cd coverNehemiah, hailing from Minneapolis, have put out an amazing metalcore CD. With many different influences, ranging from Sweedish black metal to modern day metalcore, The Asphyxiation Process is a really well rounded CD. Featuring Dead To Fall's tour guitarist, Logan Kelly, the CD has excellent riffs and some great breakdowns... Dual vocalists Evan and Brady put forth an energy so great. When their vocals overlap, collide, and fight for their spot, you can see the amount of emotion with each ear splitting scream. Bassist Chad F. grooves it along with great yet simple bass riffs and he keeps it at a steady flow. Steve the drummer is really talented. He keeps a great beat and it's probably the most stand out part about this CD. His blast beats and smooth double bass set you up for the brutalist of breakdowns.

This CD is more than just your typical metalcore CD. The closing track, Beloved, features violin players to add to the havoc. The 9 minute track is one of the best on the albums, and closes it greatly. The only filler song on the album is the violin instrumental that leads into Beloved. however, it's only one mintue and twelve seconds, so it's not too bad. The title track, The Asphyxiation Process, shows the true capability of the dual vocals. My personal favorite, A Virgin Burial, is seven minutes of pure chaos. The guitar riff is one of my favorites, and the track is pretty much solid all the way through.

Having had Nehemiah stay at my house, and going to their shows, i've gotten the full experience. Not only is their music really great, but they're really great guys, too. You don't know good enough music if you haven't checked these guys out. Although the next album features two different guitarists, i've heard the advance copy and it sound even better than this, if that's at all possible. If you're looking to see Nehemiah on tour, you'll be even more surprised at their most recent changes. Vocalist Brady, Bassist Chad, and Drummer Steve have all left the band due to not being able to be in a full-time, touring band. However, current guitarists Aaron and Nolan have informed me the newer members will do great at keeping Nehemiah as strong as they are.

If you're interested, look into: The Asphyxiation Process, A Virgin Burial, The Endemic, Beloved. Cool
