I still remember when I purchased this c.d. I was getting off of school and I went to Bionic (local records store... that I really miss) and I wanted some new material so I was just browsing around. I knew that this c.d. was coming out soon but I wasn't sure when so I wasn't even expecting it. Walking through though I saw "Zombie Apocalypse" well I peed a little bit and after I got over it I grabbed it and bought it for $7.99...
I get in; put it in my c.d. player wrestle with the crappy adaptor so I can listen to it in my car, and than turn it on. I hear the beginning and I'm like hey this is pretty intense… than the first song goes by and I'm stoked. Pretty good stuff, so I leave and by the time I get to the 3rd light I'm on song 4. I'm a little bummed and pissed off but whatever. Anyway, long story short by the time I get home I've listened to it twice. I feel a little bit cheated and bummed out. Anyway after I listen to it a few times I realize even though it's short it's possibly the best c.d. I've heard all year. And to be quite honest I wouldn't want it to be any longer, (not cause I didn't want more, but cause I think every song goes together perfectly) It's not so much an album of songs it's a little more like one long amazing song in different chapters. Ala Rush 2112 overture. Except on crack of course. Either way, I bought this c.d. October of 2003 (damn it's been that long?) and it's still amazing to me, I haven't gotten tired of it at all. Plus zombies are awesome and it's written from the perspective of one. Anyway, onto the album review.
Prologue: Simple beginning, some weird countdown thing whatever it's awesome.
Morti Viventi: A loud fast song, with an awesome line "Rotting is a privilege saved only for the dead.
Red, Black, and Blue: A fast song that goes into a quick heavy part and than another thing of the verse and it's over. On paper it looks like crap but listening to it there is no way you would realize that was just a 38 second song.
The Dead In The Queue: One of the longer songs (2 minutes) it's definitely one of the favorites. An amazing fast song with a beautiful softer interlude around 47 seconds into it, with a simple epic part. "Epic in 2 minutes?" It's possible. Blah blah
BastardShitBastard: A fast 20-second song, this was one of the demo songs they put up (I had no idea what to think when I heard this) but with the rest of the songs it is perfect.
Fill My Mouth With Dirt: Another memorable song, yet still only 40 seconds. (If you can't tell their music is extremely hard to describe…. Fast and to the point basically)
This Day Is A Spark Of Life: Another one of the longer songs (1:06) fast song with a great line "At dawn we wage war." (It is from the perspective of zombies)
Every Horror Every Day: I don't know why but the singer's vocals sound amazing in this song, a little more middy but it sounds amazing, he should do this much more. Anyway another longer song, whatever, great song.
March On To Victory: The longest (3:00) and slowest song. This is one of my favorite songs every as crazy as this sounds. The best lyrics the best riffs the best everything. I want to see this band so bad just for the sole fact of singing along to this amazing song. "And when our feet bleed…than we will crawl! Crawl!!!!" This song really reminds me of shai hulud, only much heavier and stripped down. But it's great; this singer is one of my favorite singers.
Epilogue: Legions Of Dead Prepare For War: Just an ending track, finishes the last song with crazy thunder effects and etc.
"I am not defeated, though my skin is rotting."
