New England Areas Meltdown are a brutal metallic hardcore band that boasts current and former members of Verse and Learn, fronted by indomitable mad-man Pauly Edge. Last year after playing some awesome east coast shows, Meltdown caught the hardcore world with their demo 7'' release on the Trash Art! and Rock Vegas labels. Their now classic "Demolition" 7"EP/CDEP on Malfunction/Closed Casket Activities was released early this year and immediately the release was turning heads across the country. "Demolition" easily is one of my favorite EPs of the year, relentless from start to finish. Pauly's rage and rants are backed by pure riffage and breakdowns that will make you want to destroy everything in sight and mosh constantly. It's like they picked up right where Cro-Mags and Obituary left off, five raging tunes from Meltdown that will eat your face. "Demolition" is packed with five gut wrenching, brutal tracks that are sure to please any fan of hard, agressive music. "Iron Chains" the opener, starts off with a gnarly intro which will have you start moshing instantly. Pauly's vocals are relentless throughout the whole ep which leave me to think that seeing Meltdown live would be the best thing ever. "Bad Blood" originally released on the demo 7'', is as punishing as ever with the thick guitar sound and raging vocals, pure onslaught throughout the whole five song ep.
