This C.D. is FUCKING BRUTAL. I must say I never really liked them but I heard Shitstorm and Love? And I had to purchase this c.d. and it turned out to be a fucking tyrant of a c.d. Its pissed off, its fast, its heavy, its depressed. Its everything you could hope for in a c.d. All the musicians are great; Devin Townsend is honestly fucking INSANE. I cant stress this enough. His vocals sound similar to Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God but way more intense and it sounds like he has much better control. Its just fucking intense. The lyrics are absolutely insane. It reads like there was absolutely no lyric editing. I can imagine someone being absolutely ready to fucking exploding and writing on a paper just stream of conscious and it would be similar to these lyrics. The first song Imperial is a fast heavy beast. Starts off with blast beats and some simple fast guitar riffs. Crazy ass vocals and etc. good song but definitely not the best, In fact I think there could have been a better opener. Up next is Skeksis a heavy ass song with some intense double kick work and a slew of random weird effects. Another good song but not the best, but the next is definitely up there. Shitstorm, the song that sold me on this c.d. one of the songs with his insane ass lyrics "And I dont want to fight because I dont know whats wrong or right, But Ill do anything just to get some fucking sleep tonight. And I dont even eat... And I cant even Fucking piss all Ive been thinking about is God and Death infinity!!!!" Then up comes even more insane lyrics and plenty of off time heavy shit with plenty of bass booms to blow your speakers. Up next is in my opinion the best song. "Love?" A brutal ass song, with heavy ass riffs and a little more clean vocals than the others, I love this guys singing voice, its so different then all the other metal bands with singing perhaps its cause he used to play with Steve Vai that he has this different perspective on singing. And out of all the songs the lyrics make the most sense, and it seems to remind me of all my past relationships. "This love, its about control." This is truly an awesome song and they have a video for it on MTV2 and Fuse or you could cruise over to centurymedia.com and check out the video and the song Shitstorm (please do this). Up next is Shine, another great song with great riffs and the Synths really add something to this song. Theyre subtle but they still kick ass. Up next is We Ride, the lyrics are awesome "What the fuck was that? Im being completely rational. Im not yelling! In every relation there has to be compromise, and every one of them has baggage. God knows I have my issues and we know you have yours. Put it in gear motherfucker, for tonight, We Ride!" And the music is also intense. Anyway the rest of the songs are basically the same minus an acoustic song with soft vocals. Which is very weird and kinda comes out of nowhere but its still awesome and just seems creepy instead of soothing. But besides its very very brutal plenty of double bass, plenty of single string heavy riffs ala Sepultura and Disembodied and if you have a good ass system on your car this c.d. sounds absolutely awesome. If your car cant handle bass than youre missing out. Just check it out, the c.d. is solid, if you go to centurymedia.com and you like the 2 songs than you will like this c.d. one of my favorites of the year. Check it out! |
