CaliAlive.com:
First off, thanks for doing this interview. Introduce yourself and let us know what you do in the band.
SBT:
Yea sure no problem. I’m Marc, play bass for Strength Behind Tears. I’ve played for about 8 years now and I’ve been in the band a little over a year now, I was the last one to join and have been enjoying every minute of it!
CaliAlive.com:
Tell us about the members, the band history, when you got started.
SBT:
The other members are Saul(drums), Jimmy(vocals), Stanley(guitar) and Nelson(guitar/singing). The band started as Jimmy, Nelson and Stanley back in high school, from what I know Nelson was playing drums for awhile and then they had met Saul from going to shows, and Nelson who could also play guitar decided to get out from behind the drums and took over playing guitar. At the time they had a different bass player, but he left and I came down and tried out and that was it. Personally, I got started in high school, I picked up the bass and liked it and shortly after started playing in bands.
CaliAlive.com:
What city are you guys from? What are some of your fav bands from the area?
SBT:
Most of us are from la habra, then whittier and montebello. ummmm....we're good friends with pilar of fate, funeral pyre, most bands from the area. a couple of us really dig final fight and 7 generations too.
CaliAlive.com:
Have you always played your current style of music, or has the band went through music style changes.
S
BT:
Any good band grows and progresses through their own style of music and this band is no exception.
CaliAlive.com:
Tell us about your favorite show you've played, and your favorite place to play. When i was in a band, i always loved played small backyard shows with tons of kids. Do you prefer those, or venues?
SBT:
Venues are always fun but can be hectic at times, backyard gigs can be the same way. I love playing shows, I don’t care if its to 10 people or if the place is packed. Out of all the places that we have played, I think that Pocatello, Idaho is my favorite, the people there are so nice and we really love going out there and just having a good time with the bands and friends we have made out there.
CaliAlive.com:
Do you have any upcoming tour plans?
SBT:
we're on tour right now for a couple of weeks, we're in colorado. we're
gonna take september off and then head back out on the road in october
to hit up the mid west and east coast.
CaliAlive.com:
Are you happy with your new music and the way it came out. how long have you been working on these songs, and how did the writing process go.
SBT:
We are all very happy with the new music and excited to see how people respond to it. We have worked on the newer songs for awhile, but some of the older stuff we still love to play when we get a chance. Usually the writing process is that Nelson or Stanley come up with a riff and they will either work on it together first or just bring it to practice and then we all get a chance t work on it and see what comes out.
CaliAlive.com:
Talk about your relationship with basement records. did you go to them, or did they go to you.
SBT:
The relationship is really good, we are lucky to have a record label that we can pretty much see and talk to every day. So if something comes up or something changes we find out about it almost as it happens which is so helpful. We had known Basement for awhile and talked about getting one of our songs on a compilation, after that Basement gave us the offer to sign with them.
CaliAlive.com:
Name some of the biggest bands you've played with.
SBT:
as hope dies, undying, scars of tomorrow, animosity, deathstar...a ton of others that I can't think of right now.
CaliAlive.com:
Thanks alot for the interview and good luck on tour.
