Listen To "Taking It Back" While Reading
![]() The new songs off the record are shorter, faster, and louder than their previous efforts, which were all fantastic records. "Desperation" tends to stay on pace with devastating beats from start to finish, while still imulating some New York style breakdowns that we all come to know from Allegiance. The new songs/offerings are way angrier, grittier, and dirtier. John Stark seems like he just let out all his rage inside and displayed it through the whole record. Jams like "Burn," "Out of my Blood," and "Just Martyr Me," John offers up some snotty, intense, raw sounding vocals that stand out more significantly in previous records. "Summer Relief," talks about just hanging with friends and reliving trips down highway 5, down the 101 to have some relief with the ones you truly care about. Hardcore is fun, that's the way it's supposed to be. We all can use some summer relief.
Their live act is one to witness, and Im sure you west coast kids have caught them from time to time because they play so cal a ton. Energetic with their delivery, Ross the guitarist always has a good time playing, and you can see that in their performance.
Desperations is powerful and thick, yet still leaves you with the sense and feeling of rawness that adds intensity all through the record. With this fine release of "Desperation," Allegiance gives yet another great example of no bullshit ahrdcore. This band does not have one bad song to date, this is why they have been my favorite hc band since the demo dropped in 2002. Pure relentless from start to finish, go pick up this record now. Just another damn good record from San Francisco Allegiance.
