Hailing from somewhere between life's darkest, yet most enlightening moments is Ottawa's very own Buried Inside. Showcasing a sound that is as beautiful as it is downright fucking brutal, Buried Inside manages to take the listener along on a 40 minute ride through 10 tracks that work more as one full melodic metal opus, rather than seperate songs.
Everything about Chronoclast is fucking incredible. The layout features awesome graphics. The concept and songwriting are top notch, often using the same(or variations of) riffs for different tracks on the cd to give the album great flow and constancy. The subject matter focuses solely on time, and it's rule over the human race. The lyrics are written with intelligence, and great conviction. The instrumentation is precise and powerful, unrelenting and at times calming. Every note and chord expresses feeling and truth, and that is what makes this album stand out among so many others.
Matt Bayles(Mastodon, Isis) did an outstanding job producing the album. All of the instruments are represented beautifully in the recording and mix. This thing is just fucking HUGE. The guitars are thick and gritty, the bass is driving, the drums are tight, and the vocals don't overpower the mix. Everything ends up sounding sincere, and that is rare these days.
So go buy this album, and do yourself a favor and see them when they come to your town. Amazing live band.
