Rivalry Records is without a doubt one of the hardest working labels in Hardcore today putting out some of the best tunes. Such current bands in the roster include Allegiance, Killing the Dream, More to Pride, Verse, and one of the most notably, Vancouver's Go It Alone.Go It Alone's debut full length LP, "The Only Blood Between Us", is an improvement and step up from their previously released EP titled "Vancouver Gold". The LP contains 10 new tracks and two re-recorded favorites. Drawing influences from personal favorites such as Battery, Chain of Strength, Outlast, and Carry On, they play melodic hardcore with a passion almost unmatched. One of the factors that I take into account when I listen to a band are the lyrics. I am not let down. The lyrics to this LP as opposed to their previous release, are more personal. This time the lyrics have a sadder tone to them but at the same time are sometimes inspiring and uplifting. One of my favorite tracks on the LP is "Constant Refrain". Sample lyrics to the track include "We succumb to the pressure to conform, to the pressure to fit in..." Overall, this LP is a solid, solid release put out by a praise worthy label. I would highly recommend this release to everyone, especially for fans of melodic hardcore. |
