Of course Final Fight never fails to impress me. Whether it be listening at work, in the car, or seeing them live, your always wanted to rock out. The passion behind the lyrics and the solid drumming/guitar work makes them one of the most impressive hardcore/punk bands to come out of California. Of course people will argue that, but shit who cares go check out one of there shows and see the crowd response. As for Life Long Tragedy, I loved there last LP they release a few years back, however, this is definetly a change from there old release.

The two songs off this split for Final Fight are both new, and they really suprised me with the maturity gained as far as songwriting in the past few years. They lean more towards a mature sound, but managed to keep there sound catchy and fun. David's vocals are good as always, making you want to sing along to every word. The guitars are way more melodic and sharp, the recording is solid and all in all you are left wanting more. Deathwish really scored on picking up this band, as did Final Fight joining Deathwish.

Life Long Tragedy has definetly progressed in there songwriting, but I'm not so sure I like it as much as there old stuff. The vocals are more pissed off and emotional, but the music on the second song "sweet innocence" is slow half way through, and reminds me of a slow "modern life is war" song. It builds up, but not enough, and never really has a climax.

Go to www.deathwishinc.com and pick up this split for only $4. You won't be let down and if you are, hey its only 4 bucks.
