![]() I didn't really know what to expect from these guys since they've been out of commision for quite awhile. When I first saw the artwork, the first thing I thought is "oh shit, this is gonna be good." (click here for the album cover) The first song blows me away. It builds up for a minute and then grabs you and doesnt let you go. The only word for it is epic. The lyrics are in your face and political and you can tell that Hope Conspiracy is definetly not fooling around on this album with the opening lyrics being..."And so they feed all the pigs in a row, row after row. They stick there noses deep, deep in the shit, the shit they are thrown. There all guilty, guilty fucking pigs."The rest of the album really shows the maturity & strength of the release, keeping your attention with drumming thats creative & quick and lyrics & guitar that are absolutely relentless & heavy. The use of bass & drums is more noticeable on this album than in the past as well, and the recording is a perfect sound to go with the music. Hope Conspiracy really suprised me on this album with the amount of breakdowns. There not your cheesy hardcore toughguy breakdown though, these make those smell like shit. I dont judge a band on there "breakdowns", but on this album its hard not to notice them. They'll crush you & just make you want to punch your steering wheel over and over as you pull up to some old lady in the car next to you. In track 4 you have a perfect example, which has a lead over it that makes you want to cry. Death Knows Your Name ends with a melodic instrumental which is suprisingly good, and has some faint singing over it, that you can tell has a lot of passion behind it. Between each melodic part you have heavy guitars and drums that are there just to bring back the melodic parts even heavier than before. I'm not sure that this is the last thing Hope Con puts out but if it is, it is definetly a good farewell to there longtime fans. I wish they would tour for this album, but I dont think there gonna do it, with all there members being involved in other projects. Basically, everyone needs to buy this. Not burn it, buy it. You wont be let down. Rating: 10/10 Pick this album up at www.deathwishinc.com Track Listing: |
