Very few times can I find myself almost speechless when talking about a new CD, especially if it's a band that I have never heard before. Although saying that I havent heard this band before, its not saying that I havent heard this music before.
On The Outsides debut full length "Tragic Endings" left me with no words to express except that it's mediocre at best. The music is a generic mix of metal and hardcore that reminds me of Old No Warning combined with Terror, just a lot less exciting. All the songs have the same feeling of fast paced hardcore going into a bass hook that begins a really unfulfilling breakdown. The lyrics maintain a steady pace of just hatred towards the world and all their surroundings. Because of how similar every song was, it was really hard to distinguish each song as its own, the album was just like one long song to me. All in all, this CD was a real disappointment for me. The average song length was a little less than 2 minutes and there were only 10 songs on it, making the average asking price of 12 bucks for it a little steep. For a bands debut full length I would have hoped for a little more depth, either musically or lyrically. I don't recommend this CD for anyone looking for a groundbreaking band, but if your looking for another addition to your collection, by all means go for the CD.
